Lisa Đặng, a Banting postdoctoral fellow who has been with IREx for several years, recently attended the 73rd Nobel Laureates’ Meeting in Lindau, Germany. This prestigious event, held from June 30 to July 5, 2024, brought together 650 promising young scientists from all over the world in the presence of 37 Nobel laureates, on the theme of physics.
Along with five other Canadian Banting and Vanier Fellows, Lisa Đặng had the opportunity to share her research on exoplanets and their atmospheres, a field in which she has made significant contributions in recent years. Her participation in this meeting was a great opportunity to discuss with leading scientists, exchange innovative ideas and strengthen her international connections. She testifies on her LinkedIn account:
“Attending the 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings in Physics in Germany earlier this month was a highlight of my career as a physicist. This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet enthusiastic young scientists across the globe and to listen to Nobel Laureates discuss their research and careers was truly inspiring and brings me lots of excitement for my own future scientific endeavours back at Université de Montréal.”
This experience is a tribute to the talent of Lisa Đặng, a very promising researcher. We are proud of her achievements and the international recognition she is receiving. Congratulations to Lisa for this accomplishment and for brilliantly representing our institute internationally.
The Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings – established in 1951 – provide a globally recognised forum for exchange between Nobel Laureates and young scientists. They inspire scientific generations and build sustainable networks of young scientists around the world. The Meetings take place annually, with alternating disciplinary foci. The additional Lindau Meeting on Economic Sciences gathers Young Economists and Laureates every three years.
The 73rd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting was about Physics. In addition to young Scientists selected in the nomination and application process 2023-24, the ones who had been selected from this field for the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting and had taken part in 2021 in the digital meeting were invited to participate on site from 30 June–5 July 2024.
