Katie is an undergraduate finishing her 3rd year at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa in the Honours Astrophysics Program. She has always been deeply fascinated with being able to understand and explain different phenomena in the universe. This fascination motivated her to pursue her dream degree in astrophysics. Last summer, she had the opportunity to expand her knowledge on exoplanets in her first internship with Dr. Jonathan Gagné. She was able to work with him and his team to calculate more robust proper motions for a large groups of brown dwarfs and planetary-mass objects.
Katie is so excited to continue to contribute to our understanding of exoplanets and to be able to work with and learn from Dr. Jonathan Gagné again this summer.
