Maya is an undergrad student in Physics at the Université de Montréal. Although she appreciated the variety of fields she studied during her double DEC in Natural Science and Humanities, she was (pretty) sure from the beginning that she wanted to pursue her studies in Physics. Her first year in the program this year confirmed her initial instinct.
In the summer of 2022, Maya completed an astrophysics internship in Julie Hlavacek-Larrondo’s group. During the internship, she studied the High-Velocity system, a small galaxy interfering with the central galaxy of the Perseus Cluster, NGC 1275, using the new observations from the SITELLE instrument on the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope.
Her plans for the summer of 2023 consist of analyzing the latest observations from the James Webb Space Telescope on the exoplanets of the TRAPPIST-1 system under the supervision of Professor René Doyon.
