Georgia Mraz

Ph.D. Student, McGill

Georgia started her PhD studies at McGill University in Fall of 2023, under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Cowan. Her current research interests include exoplanet atmospheric characterization using high resolution spectroscopy.

She obtained her MSc in Astronomy and Astrophysics at the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. During which, she did research using Gaussian processes to predict stellar variability. Along with this, her thesis used ground based high resolution spectroscopy along with techniques of cross correlation spectroscopy to characterize the atmosphere of V1298 Tau b.

She has completed a BSc in Physics at Union College in Schenectady, New York. There, she led research as part of the TESS Follow-Up Observing Program (TFOP).

Georgia has also been previously involved in multiple outreach opportunities. She has worked at the Bridgeport Discovery Museum and Planetarium located in Bridgeport, Connecticut where she was a teaching assistant in science classrooms. Additionally, she worked at the Museum of Innovation and Science in Schenectady, New York where she ran science demonstrations to the public.
