Jared obtained his bachelor’s degree in Astronomy in 2019 and his Master of Data Science in 2021 both at the University of British Columbia.
He has since returned to the world of Astronomy starting his doctoral studies at McGill University on September 2021, under the supervision of Nicolas Cowan. Jared is interested in the characterization of exoplanet atmospheres using spectroscopic phase curves, the best method of probing an exoplanet atmosphere’s 3D structure. Jared works on creating maps of an exoplanet that is longitudinally resolved and investigate differences in analysis methods of exoplanet data. He is applying these methods to data obtained with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST). The lessons learned from JWST could potentially help recommend and inform choices for future exoplanet observations with future telescopes like the Atmospheric Remote-sensing Infrared Exoplanet Large-survey (ARIEL).
