Luca’s interest in physics stems from a long-standing love for applied mathematics combined with a burning desire to know how the universe works. This led him to pursue a B.Sc. in physics with a minor in mathematics from McGill university, where he will be entering his final year. In addition to his studies, he finds joy in spreading his enthusiasm for physics and math through an independent tutoring venture he launched over a year ago, where he provides math and physics guidance to high school and CEGEP students.
This summer, Luca is very excited to be conducting formal research for the first time, under the supervision of one of his former professors, Dr Eve Lee, where he will be modelling sharp dust rings in protoplanetary disks. These models, along with data from planetary disks with known sharp dust rings, will be used to determine some of the fundamental parameters that control the physics of early planet formation.
