Wasi started his astronomy journey at UBC Okanagan. He has interned at National Reserach Concouil Canada Herzberg Astronomy and Astrophysics Research Centre twice- once simulating in-orbit detector performance for the CASTOR space mission and then implementing Machine Learning based wavefront reconstruction for the REVOLT instrument on the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory’s 1.2 m Telescope. He has also briefly dabbled in Atomic Physics simulations (in Fortran) at TRIUMF. After a summer working with Dr. Nicolas Cowan, Wasi will continue as a Master’s student under his supervision. His work comprises of statistical Bayesian modelling for the ARIEL Space Mission.
Wasi also has a keen interest in history of Physics and loves a good chat about how it all came about. Outside of work, Wasi splits his time finding parallels between Persian, English and Urdu poetry along with competitive Pokemon gaming.
