Tools for the BANYAN project

  • BANYAN I is used to determine the membership probability of stars with young associations, applying the numerical methods detailed in Malo et al. 2013.
  • BANYAN II is used for determining the membership probability of stars and brown dwarfs with young associations, applying the numerical methods detailed in Gagné et al. 2014
  • BANYAN Σ is used for determining the membership probability of stars and brown dwarfs with young associations, applying the numerical methods detailed in Gagné et al. 2018.

Infrared instrumentation at the OMM

  • Many instruments observing in the infrared (0.8-2.4 µm) domain have been developed by our group over the years. Today they are used to conduct projects relating to the study of brown dwarfs and exoplanets at the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic.
  • SIMON (Montreal infrared spectrometer) is a spectrometer-imager with a field of vision of 7.5 minutes of arc. It was used at the CFHT to obtain the spectra of planetary-mass objects in the Orion nebula. Today it is used on the 1.5-metre CTIO telescope, as part of an inter-institutional loan.
