Alexandre Guertin-Pasquier

Coordination Officer, OMM & IREx

Alexandre Guertin-Pasquier has been the Coordination Officer for IREx and the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic since November 2024, where he applies his expertise in administrative management, communications and event organization.

With a bachelor’s degree in environmental geography and a master’s degree in geography from the Université de Montréal, during which he specialized in the study of the Earth’s ancient climates by analyzing the remains of a fossilized forest in Canada’s High Arctic, Alexandre has been passionate about planetary science and the promotion of university research for over a decade. He defines himself first and foremost as a team player with a passion for diversity and multidisciplinarity, with a great capacity for adaptation and a wealth of experience in event organization, strategic planning and community facilitation.

His keen interest in scientific communication also led him to complete a certificate in journalism at the Université de Montréal. This passion enabled him to win the Prix de la relève of the prestigious Bourse Fernand-Seguin in science journalism in 2013 and to play a key role as communications and media relations coordinator for the Association francophone pour le savoir (Acfas) from 2014 to 2015. He was also general manager of the Fonds d’investissement des cycles supérieurs de l’Université de Montréal (FICSUM) from 2015 to 2019, and then responsible for the development and outreach program for the next generation at IVADO from 2020 to 2024. His extensive journalistic experience enables him to understand the intricacies of this field and to maintain numerous contacts within it, a knowledge that is boosted by his involvement in numerous boards of directors, including that of the Association des communicateurs scientifiques du Québec from 2017 to 2019, as well as by his role as an instructor in science outreach.
