Amélie is a graduating student in the B.Sc. Honours Physics program at McGill University. She is now excited to continue on to the next step and further develop her knowledge in astrophysics during her graduate studies starting this fall.
For the past two years, Amélie has been working as a science educator at the Montreal Planetarium. She loves sharing her passion for astronomy with the general public of all ages. Last summer, she was able continue being a part of the planetarium’s team, but as an intern in Professor Jonathan Gagné’s group, where she developed a calculation method to estimate the masses of substellar objects using evolutionary models.
This summer, she will go beyond her thesis work on the modeling of hot Jupiter atmospheres using magnetohydrodynamics, under the supervision of Professors Andrew Cumming and Paul Charbonneau. She wishes to further her understanding not only of these magnetized atmospheres, but also of other research topics within IREx, while learning from experts in the field of exoplanets.
