2025 Summer Intern, Université de Montréal B.Sc. Student

After a year in the physics program and a second in the physics/computer science program at the Université de Montréal, Charles will have the chance to work with researchers Joost Wardenier and Romain Allart. As space has always been an important part of his life, this will be an excellent opportunity to observe and actively participate in modern astrophysical discoveries.

During his internship, he will analyze over 60 hours of observations from the James Webb Space Telescope of an ultra-hot jupiter known as WASP 76 b. Ultra-hot jupiters are gaseous planets that are tidally locked to their star, orbiting it in just a few days. The aim is to gain a better understanding of this planet’s climate by modeling temperature variations and studying the various thermal phenomena that take place.
