Déreck-Alexandre Lizotte

Ph.D. Student, Université de Montréal

Dereck completed his undergraduate degree in physics at Concordia University in Montreal in April 2017. During his studies, he worked on a research project aimed at detecting explosive solutions with bacterial reaction centers (BRCs).

In September 2018, he joined the iREx team to begin his master’s degree under the supervision of Jason Rowe at Bishop’s University. At the PhD since 2021, he is co-advised by David Lafrenière. His research focusses on the use of Gaussian processes to extract spectroscopic data from the atmosphere of an exoplanet as it transit in front of its star.
