François-Pierre started his master’s studies at Université de Montréal in September 2024, under the co-direction of David Lafrenière and René Doyon. He is working on a comparative study of limb darkening in transit spectroscopy of exoplanets with James Webb Space Telescope data. He is using a new data analysis tool to verify its efficiency and robustness in dealing with several types of exoplanets, compared with current methods.
François-Pierre obtained his bachelor’s degree in physics in the spring of 2024, from the Université de Montréal, with a specialization in astrophysics. During his studies, he worked on a simulation of the contamination for the SOSS mode of the NIRISS instrument on the James Webb telescope. He also did an internship in condensed matter physics, working on the specific heat of superconductors, under the supervision of Andrea Bianchi.
In addition, François-Pierre advocates the sharing of scientific knowledge to all, being an ambassador and volunteer for iREx’s April 8, 2024 solar eclipse events. Having been an astronomy tutor at Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu during his bachelor’s degree, and now a teaching assistant at Université de Montréal, he is also involved in education.
