Laurie Dauplaise

MSc Student, Université de Montréal

Laurie completed her bachelor’s degree in physics at Université Laval in winter 2023. During her undergraduate studies, she completed an internship in optics at Université Laval’s Centre d’optique, photonique et laser. In the summer of 2022, she completed a summer internship at iREx under the supervision of Professor Björn Benneke, with the aim of contributing to the improvement of the SCARLET code, developed by Professor Benneke, which is used in particular to generate models of exoplanet atmospheres. This initial contact with exoplanet researchers inspired her to pursue graduate studies at iREx.

Laurie began a master’s degree at Université de Montréal in fall of 2023 under the supervision of Professor René Doyon. She will be analyzing data from the NIRPS instrument to determine the mass of super-Earths in the habitable zone of their star, in order to deduce their density.

Laurie is also involved in various activities to raise public awareness of science, such as the InitiaSciences project. During her undergraduate studies at Université Laval, she was also involved in her student association and in organizing the Coupe de Science, a friendly scientific competition aimed at promoting science among high school students.
