Shu Zhang started his MSc study at McGill University in 2024, under the supervision of Andrew Cumming. He currently studies planet formation and evolution, aiming to explain the complex interior structure of Jupiter revealed by recent observations. To achieve this, he focuses on the hydrodynamics of the fluid in Jupiter’s interior and utilizes numerical simulation to explore the plausibility of various evolution models.
During his BSc degree at McGill University from 2020 to 2024, Shu studied the evolution of magnetized white dwarfs with other group members. They explored the hydrodynamics shortly after the formation of white dwarfs, explaining the observable strong surface magnetic fields with simulations.
Shu is also actively participating in teaching at McGill’s physics department. He has been a teaching assistant for atrophysics, quantum mechanics, and numerical simulation methods.
