René Doyon is the new Canada Research Chair in Experimental Astrophysics and Exoplanet Sciences. This research chair is one of 157 Canada Research Chairs created or renewed this year, and 7 new ones at the Université de Montréal.

Director of iREx and the Observatoire du Mont-Mégantic, Mr. Doyon is a world-renowned leader in experimental astrophysics and exoplanet science. This appointment recognizes the importance of Mr. Doyon’s achievements in these fields of research, as well as his talents in recruiting and supervising students and researchers.

This Tier 1 research chair will support Mr. Doyon’s home institution, Université de Montréal, to the tune of $200,000 per year for 7 years.
