Alexandra Rochon

2024 & 2023 Summer Intern, McGill University B.Sc. Student

Passionate about space science, Alexandra has just completed a bachelor’s degree in physics and geophysics at McGill University. In the fall, she will begin a master’s degree in astrophysics under the supervision of Prof. Ryan Cloutier, at McMaster University.

This summer, she rejoins IREx to continue developing a tool to analyze photometric data from the MIRI instrument aboard the James Webb Space Telescope and characterize the LHS 1140 planets under the supervision of Prof. René Doyon, Prof. Lisa Dang, and Dr. Étienne Artigau.

Alexandra has gained experience in exoplanet science conducting a variety of research projects, including developing a numerical model of ice caps to study the water cycle on synchronously rotating exoplanets and characterizing the atmosphere of a hot Jupiter, before embarking last summer on the project she is excited to complete this summer.
