Pierrot Lamontagne

MSc student, Université de Montréal

Pierrot completed his bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of Montreal in 2023. During his undergraduate studies, he did an internship at iREx under the supervision of David Lafrenière. During this internship, he worked on the simulator of the NIRISS instrument on the Webb telescope as well as on the monitoring of exoplanet candidates with the Dragonfly telescope.

He is now doing his master’s degree under the supervision of David Lafrenière where he is working on data from the NIRPS instrument, placed on the 3.6m telescope at La Silla. He uses this data to detect the presence of exoplanets around red dwarf stars using the radial velocity method.

Alongside his research, Pierrot worked as an astronomy guide at the Astrolab. He also gave a public lecture on the James Webb Space Telescope during the popular astronomy festival of Mont-Mégantic in 2022.
