Érika Le Bourdais and Kim Morel, two iREx Master’s students in astrophysics, have won this year’s engagement bursary from the Université de Montréal’s Faculty of Arts and Science.

Having won the Fonds d’amélioration à la vie étudiante engagement bursary in 2021-2022, the Hubert-Reeves bursary in 2022 and the Lumbroso bursary for iREx Ambassador in 2023, Ms. Le Bourdais stands out for her many commitments to our institute, department, and faculty.

Delphine Bouilly, professor in the physics department, points out that “Érika represents the student voice with determination, creativity and, above all, a concern to generate a concrete impact. (…) She (…) abounds in projects that have an impact on students.”

Ms. Morel was nominated in the category Engagement dans une activité de médiatisation ou vulgarisation de la science et de la recherche auprès d’élèves du collégial, du secondaire ou du grand public, for the key role she plays within the InitiaSciences organization. For over a year now, she has been Treasurer on the non-profit organization’s Board of Directors.

Caroline Piaulet, the organization’s president and co-founder, praises her commitment, reliability and sense of initiative: “I consider that a large part of InitiaSciences’ success over the past year is due to her volunteer work.”

iREx salutes the commitment of these two students and congratulates them on their valuable contributions to our university community.
